Samenvatting:
Framing the other is a short documentary about tourism and its complex relationships with indigenous communities. It reveals the intriguing thoughts of a Mursi woman from Southern Ethiopia and that of a Dutch tourist as they prepare themselves for meeting each other. This ultimately results in an awkward encounter that is both moving and disturbing. Recently, the Mursi people have undergone a process of 'touristification', mainly because of the exotic physical appearance of the woman with their large lip plates. While the tourist treat the Mursi people as curiosities to be photographed, the Mursi in turn deal with the influx of the 'Other' in their own partcicular way.
